A commercial tricycle (Keke Napep) driver narrowly escaped death on Tuesday following a violent altercation with another driver over a disagreement about whose turn it was to load passengers in Lagos.According to eyewitnesses, the 29-year-old driver, who operates along the Iyana–Ajamgbadi and Abule–Shibiri routes, became involved in a heated argument with a fellow Keke Napep driver at a loading point. The disagreement reportedly started after one of the drivers insisted that it was his turn to pick up passengers. The argument quickly escalated into a physical fight, during which the 29-year-old driver was allegedly kicked to the ground.Witnesses said the impact left the victim unconscious for nearly three hours, causing panic among commuters and other transport operators at the scene.

Fortunately, he later regained consciousness and is said to be recovering.R esidents who witnessed the incident described it as a reminder of how minor disagreements can quickly turn violent. They urged commercial transport operators to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to physical attacks.Had the victim not survived, the incident could have resulted in a criminal investigation and possible prosecution of the other driver. The incident has also renewed calls for transport unions and relevant authorities to strengthen conflict resolution measures at commercial loading points across Lagos to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
