The arrest took place in Kano State at approximately 3:30 AM on Tuesday, following an intense intelligence surveillance operation.This development comes shortly after the Federal High Court in Abuja convicted and sentenced Mamman in absentia to a total of 75 years in prison. The trial judge, Justice James Omotosho, handed down the consecutive sentences after finding the ex-minister guilty on all 12 counts of money laundering. The charges are tied to the misappropriation of over ₦33.8 billion originally earmarked for the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects.
EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede confirmed the arrest during a press briefing, noting that operatives are also investigating the property where Mamman was found hiding. Olukoyede described the breakthrough as a major victory in the national anti-graft campaign, reaffirming that public funds will always be protected
