
Ogun State Police Neutralize Notorious Kidnapping Leader in Forest RaidOperatives from the Ogun State Police Command's Anti-Kidnapping Unit have successfully eliminated a notorious kidnapping kingpin during a tactical raid in the Orile Ilugun Forest, located along the Abeokuta–Ibadan Expressway.According to a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the operation took place early Monday morning following the release of a victim who had been abducted from a fuel station in Odeda on May 14. After the victim was freed unharmed on Sunday night, police intelligence tracked the criminals to their forest hideout.Upon invading the camp, a fierce gun battle ensued as the suspects opened fire on the police. The security operatives responded with superior tactical firepower, neutralizing the gang leader while other members escaped into the thick forest with gunshot wounds. Law enforcement recovered an AK-47 rifle loaded with 20 rounds of live ammunition, ₦2 million in cash suspected to be ransom money, and two mobile phones from the scene.
The command reiterated its commitment to clearing criminals out of Ogun State and urged the public to keep sharing useful information with security agencies.
